Bio
Mike Michalowicz's system of thought begins with a behavioral insight borrowed from C. Northcote Parkinson: demand for a resource expands to consume the supply available. Applied to business finance, this means that if all revenue flows into a single operating account, expenses will always expand to consume it, leaving profit as an afterthought or a myth. The traditional formula -- Sales minus Expenses equals Profit -- is technically accurate but functionally useless because it treats profit as whatever happens to be left over, which for most small businesses is nothing.
